Everyone loves a good Pixar movie, and what’s not to love about Monsters Inc.? It’s downright hilarious, and believe it or not, it can also teach you a thing or two about material handling!
Monsters Mike and Sulley work together to scare children for Monsters, Inc. When one little girl accidently enters the town of Monstropolis, Mike and Sulley must find a way to return her to the human world. As the monsters worry about being “contaminated” by this innocent child, the humor rests on the fact that the monsters are far more afraid of humans than the humans are of them.
Although the monsters are just a bunch of cowards, they run one heck of a warehouse! Children’s screams are what generates power to the entire city of Monstropolis, therefore the Monsters, Inc. warehouse is the biggest place of importance. Without a fully-functioning and organized warehouse, the city of Monstropolis cannot operate.
Seeing as material handling is just as crucial to the animated world as it is to ours, observe how the monsters at Monsters, Inc. run their operation.
A very sensible way of small load transfer — pallets with casters!
Very efficient, especially on that nice and smooth concrete floor!
Even industrial floor tape!
Oh, and caution cones…even monsters are prone to accidents!
….Safety helmets and protective eyewear…
…Even solid forms of instruction!
…And most importantly, dedicated employees (even if this one might be slightly evil)!
